4 Strand + Woven Fishtail

Well! I did this style at gathering at relative’s place. That day I was little confused as to what kind of style to do as I wanted something fancy! So I thought why not to try by combining two kinds of braids.!! Actually it’s the combination of 4-Strand braid on top and woven fishtail as a side braid.

This hairstyle is perfect for marriages, sangeet , baby shower, parties. It can be dressed up with salwar suits, lehengas, kurtis. I wore this hairstyle with kimono cardigan jacket.

You’ll Need: Brush, bobby pins, spray bottle, hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Taken: 12-15 mins

Skill Level: Hard

Hair Length: Medium to Long Hair

Steps of Instructions:

  1. Begin by side parting your hair and grab the section of hair above your eyebrows.
  2. Now divide the section of hair into 4 equal strands, then take the 1st strand (just beside the parting) and cross it over 2nd strand under 3rd strand, 4th strand under 1st strand and over 3rd strand. (The First stitch of 4 Strand braid is complete now).
  3. Repeat the above step until 6-7 stitches.
  4. Now before taking a new stitch, grab 3rd strand in one hand and other 3 strands in other hand and pull those 3 strands by keeping the 3rd strand intact. Secure the braid with an elastic and pin it at the crown area, underneath the hair so that the elastic is not visible.
  5. Then take the remaining hair on one side and divide the hair into 2 large sections.
  6. Take a tiny piece of hair from the left side and cross it under that strand (now you have one tiny strand of hair in between 2 large strands). Then take a tiny piece of hair from right side strand and cross it over that strand and under tiny strand, then add that tiny piece from left side strand to right side strand. (The First stitch of the braid is complete).
  7. Take a new tiny piece of hair from left side strand and cross it over that strand and under the tiny strand of hair , add that tiny piece from right side strand to left side strand. (The key to this braid is that only at the first stitch tiny strand is crossed under and for the rest stitches it’s crossed over that strand).
  8. Repeat the steps 6-7 until your run out of hair and secure the braid with an elastic.
